Thank you. So would a swimmer be permitted to use for instance, a butterfly arm stroke with a breaststroke kick in the freestyle section of the medley?

(Josh Karp at October 12, 2021 7:45 am)

Yes. As this stroke is not a legal butterfly stroke it could be used in the freestyle section.

(Sam at October 12, 2021 7:46 am)

Ok, and would they be permitted to be on the back at any time in the freestyle section of the medley?

(Josh Karp at October 12, 2021 7:46 am)

Yes. SNSW rule SW9.2 permits the swimmer to be on the back when executing the turn. However the swimmer must return to the breast before any kick or stroke.

Thanks Sam.
